PHOENIX Phase III trial of PHP for distributive shock to continue after
positive midpoint recommendation from DMB
The PHOENIX trial is a European, placebocontrolled, Phase III study treating
catecholamine-resistant patients in distributive shock with the Nitric Oxide (NO) scavenger
Pyridoxalated Haemoglobin Polyoxyethylene Conjugate (PHP). The study was launched by Curacyte AG in
Austria, Belgium, Germany, Spain, The Netherlands and in the United Kingdom in 2009.

First patient has entered the PHOENIX trial
Curacyte AG reports today the inclusion of the first patient in the pivotal
Phase III clinical trial with its lead drug PHP (Pyridoxalated Hemoglobin Polyoxyethylene /
Hemoximer). The modified hemoglobin preparation is being tested in patients suffering from
distributive shock and who are not responsive to standard therapy with catecholamines. These
patients are currently lacking treatment alternatives and suffering a mortality rate of more than
75%.

Curacyte’s Supervisory Board appoints Dr. Ulrich Delvos as
Chief Executive Officer
The Supervisory Board of Curacyte AG, a Munich-based drug development company,
has appointed Dr. Ulrich Delvos as its new Chief Executive Officer. He is joining from MediGene AG
where he served as Chief Operating Officer for nearly four years until May 2008.

Curacyte AG’s CFO, Dr. Andreas Zaby, departing
Curacyte AG announces that Dr. Andreas Zaby, CFO, will resign as of September
30, 2008. Dr. Zaby will be joining the faculty of the Berlin School of Economics as a professor of
business administration as of Oct 1, 2008 where his teaching and research work will focus on both,
the biopharmaceutical industry and entrepreneurial finance. Dr. Zaby will remain an active
consultant to the industry.

Curacyte sells its subsidiary Curacyte Discovery GmbH to The Medicines
Company
Curacyte AG today announced that it has sold its wholly owned subsidiary,
Curacyte Discovery GmbH based in Leipzig (Germany) to The Medicines Company (NASDAQ: MDCO).
Curacyte Discovery is engaged in the development of synthetic serine protease inhibitors in the
area of hemostasis and anti-coagulation. Its rationally-designed lead development candidate,
CU-2010, is being developed for preventing surgical blood loss. It is scheduled to enter Phase I
clinical development by the end of 2008.
